The organization is currently locked in a legal battle with states implementing strict abortion bans. In Missouri, they filed a lawsuit in an effort to maintain abortion services at the only Planned Parenthood abortion clinic in the state. One of the clinic’s abortion providers, Dr. Colleen McNicholas, previously told ELLE.com, the bans are a “part of a larger trend we are seeing in this country to criminalize not only abortion, but also the people who are having abortions and the physicians who are providing that abortion.”

Cyrus has been extremely vocal about her support of Planned Parenthood. In 2016, she teamed up with Marc Jacobs and artist Marilyn Winter for a portrait series. The 50 limited edition prints were sold for $5,500, and all proceeds benefitted Planned Parenthood.

She’s also spoken out against the recent abortion bans several times on social media, including an Instagram story with a caption reading: “No man should make laws regarding women’s bodies.”

On Tuesday, she shared an image of a cake (first posted on @thesweetfeminist) decorated in icing that says, “Abortion Is Healthcare.”

In addition to supporting abortion rights, Cyrus runs the Hippie Foundation, a nonprofit, “to rally young people to fight injustice facing homeless youth, LGBTQ youth and other vulnerable populations”.

Miley Cyrus is mobilizing her Facebook followers to make donations for migrant children who have been separated from their families.

The pop singer launched a fundraiser for KIND (Kids in Need of Defense) through the social network’s new feature allowing Pages (public figures and businesses) to lead campaigns directly.

The Pages update is one of Facebook’s two new fundraising features; the other prompts users to establish recurring monthly contributions to nonprofits when using the “Donate” button.

The Facebook tweaks follow a viral fundraiser on the social network benefitting families separated at the U.S./Mexico border as part of the Trump administration’s “zero tolerance” policy. The movement, the most successful in Facebook’s history, launched with an initial goal of $1,500 and has gone on to earn over $20 million from over 30 countries for Texas refugee charity RAICES, which offers legal services to separated families.

Miley Cyrus never meant to start a war. But a bidding war? That’s a different story.

The 25-year-old singer is parting with the cherry-colored Doc Martens she sported in her infamous “Wrecking Ball” music video — for a good cause.

The shoes are up for auction ahead of the My Friend’s Place 30th Anniversary Gala event taking place on Saturday. The nonprofit resource center provides life-changing services to assist and inspire homeless youth to become self-sufficient.

While the starting bid is $1,000, the kicks are worth an estimated $5,000.

When “Wrecking Ball” won Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Awards, Cyrus hung back in her seat while a then-22-year-old homeless man named Jesse Helt took the stage to accept the award on her behalf to raise awareness for homeless youth.

Cyrus also founded the Happy Hippie Foundation — a nonprofit that provides basic needs and support to homeless youth, the LGBTQ community and other vulnerable populations. Throughout the years, the two charities have worked together in their operations to assist local youth in Hollywood.

The event, hosted by Jack Black, will honor the work of Cyrus’ The Happy Hippie Foundation, as well as USC football’s Angela Helton, renowned chef, author and food activist Alice Waters, social media platform Instagram and My Friend’s Place board member and community advocate Cheryl Hayward.

Additional items up for auction include a guitar signed by Ed Sheeran, a New York Fashion Week travel package and an exclusive dinner for two with Alice Waters at her Chez Panisse restaurant.

To place your bid, visit the My Friend’s Place Charitybuzz page.
