As if a surprise Jonas Brothers reunion last month wasn’t enough Disney Channel nostalgia for social media to handle — Miley Cyrus has just transformed her hair to resemble her famous alter-ego Hannah Montana. Say what?

Cyrus shared her new golden locks and bangs on her social media Thursday night. A series of short videos and pictures captured the singer’s transformation — starting with a full head of foils (no, it’s not a wig) and concluding with the final Hannah-inspired look, thanks to her hair stylist Sally Hershberger and colorist Justin Anderson.

“You know guys, it was so hard going back and forth that I decided I’ll just be Hannah forever,” she said in one video. “She was getting a lot of press this week, thanks to me.”

Cyrus shared a side-by-side photo of her portraying Hannah in 2009 and now in 2019, with the caption: “I WIN! #10YearChallenge.” She also posted videos singing to the show’s memorable hits, including “The Best of Both Words” and “Nobody’s Perfect.”

Hannah Montana has been at the forefront of social media lately, thanks to Cyrus. She posted a throwback photo on Sunday to celebrate the 13th anniversary of the first Hannah Montana episode to air. From 2006 to 2011, Cyrus portrayed Miley Stewart in the highly successful Disney Channel sitcom, which launched her career as a teen icon.

Fans have noticed that the singer has posted a lot of throwback photos recently, most notably with former Disney stars Selena Gomez, the Jonas Brothers and Demi Lovato, and with her Hannah Montana co-star Emily Osment.

An Instagram account with the username @hannahmontana was created earlier this month, causing some fans and media outlets to speculate that a reboot could be in the works. Some fans have said that Miley allegedly followed the account, but has since unfollowed — possibly because of the increased media attention. The mysterious account only follows Miley Cyrus and has accumulated more than 52,000 followers.

Disney Channel spin-offs have gained momentum in the last few years. Ten years after the last episode of That’s So Raven, the spin-off Raven’s Homewas officially announced in 2017, with Raven Symone and Anneliese van der Pol returning to reprise their original roles. In February 2019, Disney Channel premiered the live-action movie Kim Possible, based on the successful animated series Kim Possible, which ended in 2007.

The media buzz and popularity Hannah Montana brings to the table definitely makes it a contender for some sort of reboot, but there is still no word on whether one will be happening.

Stay tuned for more Hannah-related updates.
