Miley Cyrus Puts “Wrecking Ball” Boots Up for Auctio...

Miley Cyrus never meant to start a war. But a bidding war? That’s a different story.

The 25-year-old singer is parting with the cherry-colored Doc Martens she sported in her infamous “Wrecking Ball” music video — for a good cause.

The shoes are up for auction ahead of the My Friend’s Place 30th Anniversary Gala event taking place on Saturday. The nonprofit resource center provides life-changing services to assist and inspire homeless youth to become self-sufficient.

While the starting bid is $1,000, the kicks are worth an estimated $5,000.

When “Wrecking Ball” won Video of the Year at the 2014 MTV Video Awards, Cyrus hung back in her seat while a then-22-year-old homeless man named Jesse Helt took the stage to accept the award on her behalf to raise awareness for homeless youth.

Cyrus also founded the Happy Hippie Foundation — a nonprofit that provides basic needs and support to homeless youth, the LGBTQ community and other vulnerable populations. Throughout the years, the two charities have worked together in their operations to assist local youth in Hollywood.

The event, hosted by Jack Black, will honor the work of Cyrus’ The Happy Hippie Foundation, as well as USC football’s Angela Helton, renowned chef, author and food activist Alice Waters, social media platform Instagram and My Friend’s Place board member and community advocate Cheryl Hayward.

Additional items up for auction include a guitar signed by Ed Sheeran, a New York Fashion Week travel package and an exclusive dinner for two with Alice Waters at her Chez Panisse restaurant.

Forget the Painted Eggs: This Is How Miley Cyrus Does Easter

You can always count on Miley Cyrus to do things her way—even when it comes to Easter. While the rest of us will be busy breaking out the Paas egg kits or stockpiling Cadbury chocolates, the pop star has something glitzier planned. “[I’m] going to a drag show . . . duh!” Cyrus told us via e-mail from Los Angeles. But enjoying a drag revue isn’t the only thing Cyrus has in store for the weekend. By celebrating the event with a special series of images by photographer Vijat Mohindra, she is continuing a tradition begun earlier this year in which every holiday is marked by a new photographic statement, a kind of social media calendar. “It started with Valentine’s Day on a shoot with Ellen von Unwerth, went into St. Paddy’s Day partying with some friends, and now it’s Easter,” said Cyrus. “I’m excited that Vogue wants to get involved and celebrate with me!”

Miley Cyrus gave an emotional performance of her 2009 hit “The Climb” during the March For Our Lives gun control rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday (March 24).

Wearing a simple gray sweatshirt with the hashtag #MSDStrong, part of a fundraising effort for Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, Cyrus delivered the heartwarming song to a supportive crowd that sang along to every word. The pop star also held up a sign reading “Never Again” to show her support for the cause.

Elton John Announces Two Cover Albums Featuring Miley Cyrus

Published by:
  2018/03/15

Some of the biggest artists are celebrating Elton John‘s musical legacy with two albums: Revamp (Island Records) and Restoration(Universal Music Group Nashville), both out Apr. 6. They will celebrate John’s decades of hits, which he produced with songwriter Bernie Taupin.

Revamp features songs reimagined by Mary J. Blige, Alessia Cara, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Florence and the Machine, Lady Gaga, The Killers, Mumford and Sons, Pink and Logic, Q-Tip and Demi Lovato, Queens of the Stone Age, Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith. The album has a pop art cover, based on a Terry O’Neil photograph of John, and it was recreated in neon. “We have two completely different albums; Revamp being the pop one and Restoration being the country one. God, we have so many great artists doing our songs, it’s quite incredible,” John said in a statement. “On Revamp I wrote out a wish list of people that I would love and asked them,” he added. “To my surprise most of them said yes, and we have quite an astonishing eclectic crew.” Read the rest of this entry

Miley Cyrus sued for $300 million over ‘We Can’t Stop’ cop...

Miley Cyrus is being sued for $300 million (£215m) in a copyright infringement case involving her 2013 hit ‘We Can’t Stop’.

‘We Can’t Stop’ was the first single from Cyrus’ career-transforming fourth album ‘Bangerz’. Jamaican songwriter Michael May, who performs under the name Flourgon, claims that the track infringes upon his 1988 single ‘We Run Things’.

May filed a complaint on Tuesday (March 13), Reuters reports, with producers Mike WiLL Made-It and Rock City (Timothy and Theron Thomas), Cyrus’ manager Larry Rudolph, plus the labels RCA Records and Sony Music also named in the suit. Read the rest of this entry
